Shin's gift to Annie on their One Year Anniversary

Crib Shopping

Choosing our baby’s name was easier than choosing a crib. It’s like new car shopping (if I knew what that was like). You may have a specific budget in mind but there are still dozens of factors to work within that budget: price, durability, safety, reviews, longevity, aesthetics.

So I visited Kidsland in Koreatown alone, and this past Saturday Shin and I went on a crib crusade to Baby Depot, Baby USA, Babies R Us, and Target in a 4 hour trip. The outcome? Still undecided.

Here are the cribs I like looking at:

Bonavita Hudson $450

Baby’s Dream Coccoon Ocean $450

Bonavita Baby Europa Peyton $399

Carter’s Casual Convertible Crib $349.99

Da Vinci Kalani Espresso $309

Baby Mod Olivia 299.99

Jardine Enterprises Americana Coffee $229

Then I asked a bunch of family, friends and acquaintances who are moms for any crib advice. They shared some wonderful advice! What specifically hit home is that cribs with rails that drop down are really a backsaver once the baby gets big and you’re lifting and setting the baby down a lot. All the cribs in the pictures above are stationary rails except for the hinged fold down rail.

So as much as I love these and will keep them as an option, I’m also going to look again for a crib with rails and hopefully find something in the midprice range with moving rails, nice design, and convertible.
