Shin's gift to Annie on their One Year Anniversary

Morning Moments

Shin and I have the most fun at night just before we sleep, and in the morning right after we wake up. I credit that to our enjoyment of being together every conscious moment, and when neccessary, to create those delirious moments by whatever means possible. One of Shin’s favorite methods earlier in our marriage was to wake up and stand next to my bedside where he would commence to roll me like a piece of play-doe over the stretch of the bed, all the while laughing at my groggy, helpless pleas. Still other times its an indirect attack, like when I roll unawares into his stale sphere of carbon dioxide, or wake up freezing and find him asleep- with the blankets up to his neck. But what I enjoy most is waking up to his arms wrapped around me.

Nonetheless, every morning I look forward to something whacky and unpredictable to come out of Shin’s mouth. Here’s an example of one of our mornings. This morning I happened to wake up first and I rolled on my side, yawning and stretching my right arm towards the headboard, as though blocking a basketball shot when, to my shock, he opened his eyes and said, “I had a dream”
“Really?! What did you dream?”
“I dreamt I was playing basketball- and you were defending me”(!)

What is most endearing is his endless, creative ways of entertaining himself. Like the time I was washing up. I popped my head out of the bathroom to find him laying on the bed modifying the peace sign. I caught him just in time to see “black peace”, “mexican peace”, and “asian peace”!
